September 2, 1932 - July 15, 2016 James E. Owens (Jim), a resident of Satsuma, Alabama, died July 15, 2016. Jim was a Korean War Veteran serving four years in Korea and Japan. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Vaughan and Bessie Owens and his daughter Yolanda (Lana) Duke Owens Holliman. He is survived by his wife, Dean Duke Owens, grandson Branden O'Neal Holliman (Brooke), great-grandchildren, Logan and Lauren Holliman, and the Owens' godson and children, Lucky Dykes, Kelly Seaman, Penelope Chandler, Glynn Dykes. Jim retired from the Mobile County Sherriff's Office where he held the rank of Captain and was the Deputy Warden of the Mobile County Metro Jail. At Jim's request there will be no wake or funeral, just a graveside service for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the St. Pius X Catholic Church Building Fund. A graveside service will be held at Catholic Cemetery of Mobile on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.
