James Edward Owens

James Edward Owens, SMSgt. ( USAF Ret.) answered the last call of Retreat on July 22, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, from the chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home. Public visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. followed by Military Honors for his 27 years of service in the United States Air Force at Pine Crest Cemetery.

He is the son of Francis Marion Owens and Charlene (Maske) Owens, deceased. He has three brothers, Louis Neal Owens, George Allen Owens, and Robert Samuel Owens (deceased).

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorathea Burgess Owens, and is survived by his son, George Marion Owens, and daughter in law, Jamice Gartman Owens.

He served the nation during the Berlin Airlift, Korean War, Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam War, Middle East Conflict, and throughout the Cold War.

He continued to serve his fellow veterans as National Service Officer of the Sheehan - Pake Chapter Post 7 of the Disabled American Veterans.

He is a member of the Johnston Atoll Square and Compass, and was Inducted, Passed, and Raised in 1957 by the membership of Loop Lodge No. 895, F.& A. M
