OBITUARY

Jean Kemp Hazen

April 6, 1949October 15, 2020

Jean Kemp Hazen went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 15, 2020. She was born on April 6, 1949 in Mobile to James Q Kemp, Sr. and E B (Billie) Larimer Kemp who preceded her in death. Jean leaves behind her beloved son Jason Hazen (Carrie) and grandsons Reilly and Jacob all of Dublin, Ohio. She is survived by her sister Janice Kemp Greenwood (James) of Epes, AL; her brother James Q. Kemp, Jr. (Marilyn) of Warner Robins, GA; 4 nephews, 1 niece, 3 great-nephews and 1 great-niece. She is also mourned by a multitude of friends whose lives she impacted.

By freely giving of her time and talents to help others she earned a reputation of being an “angel on earth.” Her smile could lift your spirits and make you feel like the most important person in her life.

After graduating from Theodore High in 1967, Jean began her working career as a hairdresser where others quickly realized she had an innate sense of style. Not one to limit her talents to one outlet, Jean opened a bridal shop in Ohio where for many years she shared her classical style and design ideas.

A Celebration of Life is planned for 12:30 pm on October 24, 2020 at the ALANO Club, 908 McRae Ave.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Encompass Hospice staff and our loving gratitude to Jean’s friend and caregiver, Judy Matheny. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.

There will be a huge hole in life where this woman was! I knew Jean most of my life and she always greeted me with a warm smile and loving eyes! She devoted her life to helping others and will be greatly missed! She’s in the big one in the sky taking care of things! Love you Jean!

There will be a giant hole where this woman was in life! She was loving and devoted her life to helping others. I knew Jean most of my life and she always greeted me with a warm smile and loving eyes. I loved her dearly and she will be greatly missed. She’s up there running things at the big one in the sky. Jean was a very special lady in our community. Through the years I have watched her share herself with many people. Recently she was there for me and took me down a path I didn’t even know I needed. I believe she will live on in different ways through many individuals. We were blessed to have her.

Jean and I shared a special friend, Bill W. We laughed together cried together. We
lived life on life's terms together. I still have hand written prayers she wrote . She insisted I read everyday. And I still read today. All tho the paper is old and yellow, the message is still the same. God loves ALL OF US. ONE DAY AT A TIME. You will be sadly miss.

It’s difficult to think of a life without you little sister. You leave a hole in the hearts of so many people but you also leave a legacy of compassion and willingness to help others; the results of which will last long after our pain fades to an ache. I will hold you in my heart until we meet again.
