Jesse Almosa Connell Jr.

Jesse Almosa Connell, Jr., 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, July 13, 2026 surrounded by his loving family. He is preceded in death by his parents Jesse Almosa, Sr. and Myrtle Louise Robertson Connell, Judith Ann (Dewey) Brown and Joseph Lamar Connell.

Jesse was born in Tallapoosa County on January 2, 1943. The second of four children, Jesse grew up in the New Site area and attended New Site High School. His family moved to California when he was still in high school, where he later graduated. Jesse eventually made his way back to New Site in the early 1970s where he started a career at Russell Corp. in electronics. In the late 1990s, Jesse moved to Birmingham where he began working at OMRON. He was then transferred to the company's Mobile office where he chose to make his home.

Jesse was always known to lend a helping hand to friends and family when he could. He enjoyed working with his hands and would do all kinds of repairs if asked. After retirement, Jesse enjoyed studying weather patterns, woodworking in his shop and taking cruises with his wife.

Jesse is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Diana Neigel Connell, brother George Lafayette Connell, children Gregory (Alison) Connell, Gwendoleine Bishop, Christopher Connell, ReAnne (Jimmy) Cox, Alissa Janiece, Sharla (Mike) Knox, Danielle (Tom) Smith, Patrick Lee, sixteen (16) grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Pine Crest Funeral Home, 1939 Dauphin Island Pkwy., Mobile, AL on Monday, July 20, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until funeral service time of 12:00 Noon in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
