Jo Ann McLain beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, March 15, 2013, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and "Mimi" and her light will shine forever in the lives of those she left behind. She was kindhearted and loved everyone, especially her family and will be greatly missed. Although our hearts are heavy, we rejoice that she is free of pain and in the presence of the Lord.
Jo Ann is survived by Harold, her devoted husband of 64 years; four wonderful children, Connie McLain Kirby (Hal) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Mark McLain (Janet), Toni McLain Bunton (Jay), and Tim McLain, all of Mobile, Alabama; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, whom she adored; one sister, Lucille "Tincy" Walters and one brother, Cecil "Sonny" (Cecilia) Burnham, both of Jackson, Mississippi; devoted and lifetime friends, Maurice and Thelma Neely and Otis and Melba Shepheard; special friends and neighbors Rick, Angel, and Michael Brannon; as well as other extended family and friends.
Jo Ann retried from Regions Bank after 23 years of dedicated service. In 1978, with only a high school diploma, she began her career at Regions, working her way up through the ranks to become a Bank Officer. After retiring, Jo Ann enjoyed traveling, discovered a new love for painting and focused her time and energy on her family and friends.
Monday, March 18th, the family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens with a Celebration of Life service at noon in the Chapel.
In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, in her memory. (www.pdf.org/en/fund_memdon)
