

An avid fisherman and shell hunter, Joan E. Price-Williams was born on April 27, 1938 in Mobile, Alabama to Warner and Clara Price-Williams. Joan passed away peacefully surrounded by friends and family on March 16, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warner and Clara Price-Williams; and one brother, Thornton Price-Williams. Joan is survived by her sisters, Janice Smith, Winnie Stearns, Sylvia (Ronald) Zook; her brothers, Wayne (Mary) Williams, David Price-Williams, Warner “Tommy” Price-Williams Jr., and Mark Williams; and her life-long friend, Joann Joy Smith. Joan served in the Army Nurse Corps during the Vietnam War, earning her a National Defense Service Medal. She was in charge of the Kidney Unit in Saigon faithfully caring for our wounded soldiers. She completed forty years of nursing with a great heart overflowing with love for those she cared for. Dear Lord hold her close. A graveside service for Joan will be held at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Services will be conducted and presided over by the Ashland Place United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, Joan would appreciate donations made to the Shriners and the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
