
A longtime resident of Fowl River, AL, Joe was born in Coy, AL and was preceded in death by his parents Lennie and Ruth Sheffield and siblings Reuben Sheffield, Lawrence Sheffield, and Elsie Spencer.
Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Louise Sheffield, and two sons Joe H. Sheffield, Jr., and Darrell W. Sheffield; daughters-in- law, Denise Duerson Sheffield and Melissa Hines Sheffield; eight grandchildren, Jodi, Amber, Ashley, Johnathon, Wesley, Will Thomas, Mason, and Morgan Grace; and his brother Lennie Sheffield as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Joe retired from General Motors, Oldsmobile Division, where he held many leadership positions across the United States. Following his retirement, he continued to work in the automotive industry as well as pursuing an active community life at home. He is a member of Theodore United Methodist Church, the Azalea (Mason) Lodge, the Fowl River Civic Club, and served as president of the Dixie Ramblers camping club.
Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street, from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Friday, May 13, 2011 followed by graveside services at 2 P.M. on Saturday May 14, 2011 at the Coy Cemetery in Coy, AL.
