John Patrick Connick, Jr. – a 78 year-old native of Mobile, Alabama and longtime resident of Alpharetta, Georgia recently returned to Mobile, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. He was a 1963 graduate of McGill Institute and 1969 graduate of Auburn University. Mr. Connick worked in the construction industry for many years as a construction manager and senior project manager responsible for the construction of many hotels and large building throughout the eastern United States. During his nearly 50 year career, he worked for Henry C. Beck Contractors, Kajima International, and Trammell Crowe Residential, from which he retired. Mr. Connick was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Alpharetta and was an avid Auburn fan. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, and was a friend to all.
Mr. Connick was preceded in death by his parents, John Patrick Connick, Sr. and Rosemary Goodman Connick, and sisters, Rosemary Connick Miller and Michele Connick Davis. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Phyllis Connick; children, Melanie Connick Marks, John Patrick Connick, III (Kit), and Christopher Michael Connick (Laura); grandchildren, Luke Marks, Drew Marks, Mackenzie Connick, J.P. Connick, Mason Connick, and Ryan Connick; siblings, Phyllis Murphy (John), Donald Connick, Sr. (Linda), Lynn Rowley, Karen Connick Cunill (Lin), and Patricia Crane (Frank); his favorite canine companion, “George”; other relatives and friends.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9 a.m. in the Murphy Center at the church. A reception will follow the service in the Murphy Center.
