Mike will always be remembered for his sweet and gentle innocence, and his love for his family and Jesus. His two favorite days of the year were his birthday and Christmas, when he would eagerly await his favorite gifts of Dominos and ABC blocks. Mike loved music, specifically playing the piano. He had a beautiful gift of playing by ear. Having never received formal lessons, he could hear a song and immediately begin playing it. Another passion was watching the old classics on TV. A few of his favorites were The Price is Right, The Three Stooges, Andy Griffith, and all of the Westerns. His infectious smile and never ending handshakes will be missed tremendously by his family, but we take solace in knowing his lifelong earthly health struggles have ended and given way to heavenly peace.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father and he leaves to cherish his memories his sister, Janet Petermann; brother, Tony (Selena) Dressler; sister, Susan (John) Finley; nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the following for the loving care provided to Mike over the years; Ed and Ann Porter at The Mustard Seed (sponsored by Cottage Hill Baptist Church) Sally and Mike Cassagne, Volunteers of America, Lynwood Nursing Home and Saad’s Hospice during his final days, and countless others.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, with a graveside following at 10 a.m.
