
Mr. John Owen Edwards “Jack”, an 83 year old native of New Orleans, LA and longtime resident of Mobile passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at a local hospital with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Yvonne Bordelon Edwards; daughters, Susan (Sidney) Pearson, Leslie (Jerry) Johns, Jean Fish, Clare (Bill) Moran and sons, Owen (Janice) Edwards and John (Mary Emily) Edwards; as well as thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by one sister, Jean Farrell, of Nashua, NH. Mr. Edwards was a graduate of Jesuit High School in New Orleans and SLI in Lafayette, LA. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was also owner/operator of several Mobile businesses, including Port City Rentals, Inc. for the last 30 years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, an avid boater and fisherman, and gifted antique refinisher. Visitation will be held in the Marian Center at St. Ignatius Catholic Church on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 10:00a.m. until 11:00a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00a.m. in the Church. Interment will be in Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans on Friday, April 19, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Home, 4350 Moffett Road, Mobile, AL 36618 or to the St. Ignatius Building Fund, 3704 Springhill Avenue, Mobile, AL 36608.
