John Roy Hayes

John Roy Hayes, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama. John was born to Willliam Roy Hayes and Marie Hall Hayes on August 5, 1943, in Laurel, Mississippi. He was in the U.S. Navy Reserves for four years during the Vietnam era.

John graduated from Murphy High School before moving on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alabama and then his MBA from the University of South Alabama. He was extremely talented in computer processing, and made a career out of his skills by eventually retiring from Mobile Infirmary Hospital as the Computer Processor Director. John was an amazing neighbor according to everyone on the block, and took time to look out for his fellow neighbors. He loved cats, old cars, and swimming at Pro Health Daily. John kept to himself, but he always made time to take care of friends and family.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Hayes; his parents; and his cousin, Steve Canode.

He is survived by a host of cherished friends and family throughout Mobile and Mississippi.

A graveside service for John will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 11 a.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile, Alabama.
