John William Lilley Jr. passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama. Jack, as he was known, was born in Mobile on January 24, 1941, to Jack and Alice (née Chambers) Lilley. He attended Little Flower Catholic School and then, in 1959, graduated from McGill Institute, where he was proudly a member of the two-time city championship football team, and winner of the state science fair. He then attended the University of Alabama and Spring Hill College before joining UA Local 119 for plumbers and pipefitters. He had a long career managing large industrial projects across the greater Mobile area.
Jack was married to Patsy Ruth Conn on May 25, 1963, and remained so for almost fifty-nine years until her death. Jack and Pat raised their four children in St. Dominic’s Parish, where they were both volunteers in several roles, including their long tenure as directors of the parish’s Catholic Youth Organization. They were devoted to their children and grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to attend their sporting events, school and church functions, and activities of every kind.
Jack is survived by his children, John W. Lilley III, Lisa M. Mecom (Andrew), Laurie A. Glover (John), and Christopher P. Lilley (Robin); grandchildren, Caldwell A. Lilley, Collier S. Lilley, Channing M. Lilley, Sarah A. Mecom Price (Patrick), Lindsey C. Mecom Holz (Alex), Matthew S. Glover, Aiden C. Lilley, Kathryn I. Lilley, and Everett W. Lilley; and great grandchild Adeline Price.
He was predeceased by his grandson, Cage H. Lilley.
A visitation for Jack will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. at Radney Funeral Home - Mobile,
A rosary will be held at 630 pm on January 12, 2026 at the funeral home. A private burial will follow at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
