John Buford Maxwell – age 65, born August 2, 1949, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Mr. Maxwell was a long-time resident of Eight Mile. John was a graduate of Vigor High School (1967) and the University of South Alabama (1980). A gifted professional engineer, he excelled in all things mechanical—and brought his capricious talents to bear on any number of projects, both professional and personal. He particularly enjoyed restoring older cars, and shared his enthusiasm and expertise with family and friends. A giving and generous Christian man -- a good friend and mentor. He will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Mortimer Maxwell; mother, Lona Inez Maxwell (nee Mashburn); a brother, Charles Maxwell; and a sister, Joyce Maxwell. Survivors include cousins, other relatives and friends.
