John William McNellage, Sr. - a native and lifelong resident of Mobile passed away at the age of 91. He was a graduate of Murphy High School. He was a member of The Seafarers International Union and was a Merchant Marine for over 40 years. He also served in the Army for 2 years and was stationed in Germany.
He was preceded in death by his spouse of 61 years, Margaret H. McNellage, parents, Mrs. Nellie Cox McNellage and John Joseph McNellage, brothers, Jewels Cox McNellage and Joseph Emery McNellage, son, John W. McNellage, Jr., and granddaughter, Heather McNellage.
Mr. McNellage is survived by his children, Gina M. Blackwell (Mike) of Nashville, TN, Francy M. Lewis (Kenny) and Daniel E. McNellage, both of Mobile; grandchildren, Parker Blackwell, Derek McNellage, Tyler McNellage, John W. McNellage, III, Amanda Lewis Ouille (Joshua), and Jessica Lewis; as well as one great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Thursday, March 15, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be in Catholic Cemetery.
