John "JC", "Jay" Charles Mitchell

John Charles “J.C. or Jay” Mitchell, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Mobile, Alabama on the morning of Monday, October 5, 2026. Mr. Mitchell was born to Edward D. Mitchell and Etura M. Mitchell on June 14, 1938, in Calera, Alabama. He worked for Alabama Power for over 39 years before his retirement. Mr. Mitchell enjoyed fishing and working on projects at his vacation river house. He was very much an Alabama Football enthusiast (Roll Tide!) Mr. Mitchell was a strong, Christian man and there is no doubt he is now in the arms of the Lord.

Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary McNeil; and brother, Kenneth Mitchell.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Carol Wiggins Mitchell; daughter, Tracy M. McCarron (Scooter); one son, Wendell “Todd” Mitchell; grandchildren: Whitney J. Davis (Donald), Caitlin Jacobs, Christian Jacobs (Ali) and Alex Mitchell-White; three great-grandchildren: Noah Mayo, Edyn Davis and Avery Davis; as well as nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, at 2 p.m. in Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile.
