John Paul Morris, Captain Age 89 passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2015. He was a lifelong resident of Mobile, AL. Captain Morris served with the U.S. Merchant Marines on Liberty Ships proudly serving this great nation during WWII and was a member of the Seaman’s International Union and the Master Mates and Pilots. After retiring Capt. Morris enjoyed sharing stories some harrowing as he and his shipmates sailed to many different ports of call all over the world. Capt. Morris enjoyed bream fishing, cooking gumbo and having company with good friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne N. Morris. He is survived by his two sons; Glenn P. Morris (Margie) of Fort Walton Beach, Fl and Michael A. Morris (Tracy) of Alabaster, AL and family and friends who loved him and will deeply miss him. Visitation will be on Monday evening from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Pine Crest Funeral Home. Graveside services will be on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 10:00am in Pine Crest Cemetery.
