Joseph F. Hayes

Joseph F. Hayes, age 82, of Semmes, Alabama passed away on Saturday January 25, 2020. He was born March 16, 1937 in Layfette County, AL. Mr. Hayes is preceded in death by his parents, Hazel E. and Lewis A. Hayes, Sr., six brothers, J. D. Hayes of Winfield, AL, Clifford Hayes of Mobile, AL, Thomas Hayes of Aberdeen, MS, Edward Hayes of Dothan, AL, Lewis Hayes, Jr. of Eudora, MS, and Albert Hayes of Dothan, AL. He is also preceded in death by his four sisters; Geneva Hayes of Laurel MS, Mary Jo Sullivan of Bemmis, TN, Frances Spect of Mobile, AL and Linda Simpson of Tampa, FL. He was self employed in the roofing construction business for many years.

Mr. Hayes will be remembered as a man of few words, but when he spoke you listened. He was a man of strong faith in the Lord and passed that same faith to his family. He was always full of good advice and taught his children through example what a good husband, father, grandfather and friend should be. He will be remembered as an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a love for fishing and working in his garden.

Mr. Hayes is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Hammac Hayes and children; Frankie (Gary) Graham, George (Kathy) Hayes, Melissa Butts, Tonya (Richard) Wittner, and Beth (Tracy) Martin. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Rachel Clark, Brenda Lott, Megan Graham, Lindsay Swann, Jeremy Butts, Kyle Butts, Andrea Wittner, Avery Willcutt, Kaitlyn Martin , eight great-grandchildren; Abby, Olivia, Emily Clark, Taylor Byrd, Hayes Lott, Bailey and Madison Butts, and Elijah Swann and lifelong friend, Otis Charles "OC" Wiggins.

Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, 3155 Dauphin St, Mobile, AL. 36606, Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home chapel beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Valhalla Cemetery, Semmes, AL.
