

Joseph E. Johnson, Jr. died at The Retreat, Hospice by Saad surrounded by his wife, four children and oldest grandson. He was born in Mobile, Alabama, August 15th, 1947 and is preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Strachan Johnson and Joseph E. Johnson Sr. and his brother James ‘Larry’ Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pam Risner Johnson, and four children: Christopher M. Johnson (Eva), Stacey N. Johnson, M. Danielle Johnson, and Zachary T. Johnson; grand children: Hunter A. Capps, A. Zola Dotson, Luna A. Johnson and Joseph L. Johnson; sister: Janice Johnson D’Alonzo; cousin: Cheryl Strachan Stewart and many nieces and nephews. Joe was educated at Little Flower Catholic School and McGill Institute, class of 1965. He spent four years in the United States Navy serving on the submarine USS Skipjack SSN585 attaining the rate of TM2SS. His career was 40 years with the telephone company which changed names many times, retiring as a Cable Repair Technician in 2012 from AT&T. He was a member of a Mystic Society, a 50+ year member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Council 3565 and a member of Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Coden, Alabama. His most cherished memories were spent with his wife, Pam, and their children who were always there for every occasion and also his extended and much loved Risner Family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at Little Flower Catholic Church Monday November 4, 2024 at 10 AM followed by interment at Pine Crest Cemetery. Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.
