Joseph Christian Parks III

Sept. 28, 1949 - Oct. 16, 2016 Joseph Christian Parks III, age 67, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016, after a long illness. He was born in Mobile and graduated from Theodore High School in 1967. He had been a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 119 and later worked in the cemetery business in Mobile, Birmingham, and Tennessee before his retirement after a liver transplant in 2000. Joe enjoyed boating and fishing, once fulfilling a dream by boating from Mobile to the Florida Keys along the coast with his favorite dog, Monk. His hobbies included lapidary, fossil collecting, and gardening. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Christian Parks, Jr., and his grandparents Georgia and Joseph Christian Parks, Sr., and Gladys and Peter Oliver Westfaul. He is survived by his mother, Fay Parks Wainwright; daughters Jennifer Hamilton (Matt), Janet Seaman, and Joann Simmons; grandchildren Elizabeth Crum (Dwayne), Mathew Hamilton (Megan), Brittnay, Heather and Garrett Seaman, Amber and Haley Simmons, and Coleton Jenkins; great grandchildren Kayden, Kenlee and Khloe Crum and Kylee, Kaycee and Addison Hamilton. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Wednesday, October 19 at Pine Crest Cemetery with funeral service at 2 PM Thursday October 20 at the Pine Crest chapel.
