Joseph Edward Tew

Joseph (Joe) Edward Tew departed this life peacefully at his home surrounded by his wife and children on Friday, August 13, 2010 at the age of 55 after a courageous battle with liver cancer. He was a native and lifelong resident of Theodore, AL born to the late Marshall F. Tew and Frances Tew on July 14, 1955. He attended Little Flower and Theodore public schools. Mr. Tew was a Master Plumber and owned and operated J.E. Tew Plumbing Company since 1990. He worked in the plumbing industry for 40 years. Joe enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was an avid Alabama football and NASCAR fan. If he wasn't at the event, he liked having people over to grill out and watch it with him on TV. His friends were his family and family was his friends. He was known to live life to the fullest and make the best of every situation. His family remembers him as the finest BBQ chef at family gatherings, holding a cold beverage in hand and talking about the race or the game. He always got pepped for "the big game" between Alabama and Auburn.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 25 years Michele O'Shea Tew, 5 children Jason Tew (Kim), Christy Tew, Maggie (Chris) Gollotte, T.J. Tew (Kayla), Justin (Catherine) Tew Auburn, AL , and step-mother Deloris Amberger. Surviving brothers Larry (Donna) Tew, Mike (Kaye) Tew, David (Sandra) Tew and Marshall (Laurin) Tew. Surviving sisters Linda(Delton) Dyal, Angie(Kenny)Byrant, a devoted mother in law and care giver Elaine and father in law Gerald Bertagnolli, 6 grandchildren he adored Jordan, Logan, Macie, Kyleigh, Jaden, Karley and many other devoted relatives and friends who supported Joe and the family during his illness.

The family would like to extend their warmest appreciation to all those who helped to make the benefit held for Joe on July 31st a success. Visitation will be Monday August 16, 2010 at Mobile Memorial from 5-8PM; Rosary at 7PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
