Joy retired from the Mobile County Treasurer’s office where she was honored with the title of Assistant to the Treasurer by the Mobile County Commission. Along with her husband, she raised their four children to be strong and independent adults.
Joy was an avid reader of literature of all genres. She enjoyed various types of needlework and the beauty of flowers and all kinds of nature. Joy like watching sports – Atlanta Braves baseball, Alabama Crimson Tide football and enjoyed watching ice hockey with her son, Gerry.
Joy was loving and caring. She was a hard worker who was quiet, faithful and spiritual. Joy was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed.
Joy was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Leo G. Pose, Sr.; her parents, Alonzo and LaMerle Curry; and sisters, Carolyn Curry, Janet Curry, and Carole Smith.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Gerry Pose of Theodore, AL, Michelle Pose of Theodore, AL, Chris (Linda) Pose of Mobile, AL, and Matt (Elizabeth) Pose of Saraland, AL; grandchildren, Nicholas Pose of Mobile, AL, Vinnie (Roary) Pose of Daphne, AL, and Trevor and Tyler Grondin of Saraland, AL; great-grandchild, Nathaniel Pose; sisters, Shannon Weekley of Marietta, GA and LaMerle (Bob) Loveland of Hoschton, GA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends.
Visitation for Joy will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile. The family will also receive visitors from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The funeral service will be held in the chapel at Pine Crest on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 1 p.m. with interment following in Pine Crest Cemetery.
