Joyce Jenkins Rainwater

Joyce went with angels to be with her Lord on Monday June 19, 2017. Born in Lynch Kentucky, on October 20, 1934, she moved to Grand Bay with her family and later moved to Mobile in 1945. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1953. She worked as a Dental Assistant for 10 years before being employed by Gayfers. She then worked for 25 years at the Mobile County Public School System where she retired. She also worked at Gayfers later in life after her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde D. Jenkins, Sr. and Cora Lee Jenkins and her husband Herman (Drip) H. Rainwater, Jr. of 34 years, as well as a sister-in-law, Iralee Clark Jenkins. She was a longtime member of Fulton Road Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Rainwater (Robert) Sheldt; granddaughters, Lauren Sheldt (Curtis) Cooper, Lindsey Noelle Sheldt, and Lisa Sheldt (Bentley) Staggers; three great-grandsons, Carson Reed, Caden Robert, and Cohen Alexander; one brother, Clyde D. Jenkins, Jr.; one sister, Patsy Jenkins (Milton) Williams; three nieces; four nephews; and her faithful caretakers, Gloria Pasquill and Shenae Stribling.

Visitation for Mrs. Rainwater will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 with a chapel service immediately following at 2 p.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
