

Feb. 11, 1915 - Nov. 27, 2015 Juanita Downey Buck, daughter of William C. and Wilda Singleton Downey, born Feb 11, 1915 in Putnam, AL died Friday, Nov 27, 2015 in Mobile, AL at the age of 100 years. She graduated from Leroy High School and enjoyed several reunions with her classmates. She spent her entire adult life in Mobile, AL. retiring from International Paper at Brookley in 1980 and enjoyed their retiree luncheons in years past. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Mobile for over 60 years. Widowed at age 42, she was a strong, independent, hard working woman who admirably provided a good home for her three children cooking them delicious meals with help from her father lovingly known as Papa who resided with her in his later years. She took her children to church and instilled Christian values in them. She loved to talk on the telephone keeping the family updated on various happenings. No get together was complete without her famous potato salad which was always requested. She was preceded in death by her parents, infant sister Annette, husband Paul Buck, Sr., son Paul Buck, Jr., daughter Jacqueline B. Stubbs, and husband John Stubbs and grandson-in-law Hank Mann. She was also preceded by her brothers Alex and wife Alice, Bill and wife Olivia, Pat and wife Frances, Rex and wife Kitty, Jimmy (Eloise) and Frank. She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Leo) Reville, 8 grandchildren Susan Mann, Mike Reville, Chris Reville (Shannon), Melissa Minchella (Dennis), Jay Stubbs (Kasey), Ken Buck (Deanie), Daneen Buck, Jennifer Buck, 14 great grandchildren with her first great great grandchild expected in January and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was known as Nita and Bubba by her grandchildren. She was also preceded by her cat Precious that she loved and missed so much. She lived a long life, was much loved and will be greatly missed. She never liked to say "good bye" instead she would say "see you later." A special thanks to the nurses, aides and staff at Allen Memorial Home, East Unit where she resided since Jul 2014 and was well taken care of. Her service will be held Tuesday at Pine Crest on Dauphin Island Parkway with visitation from 9-10 and graveside service at 10.
