Juanita K. Walters Simms-Carter – Born June 23, 1950 to Eugene F. Walters, Sr. and Levera Kountz Walters. She was called home to be with Jesus on January 1, 2023. Nita was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and sister-in-law, Gene, Mitchell, and Debbie Walters; sister and brother-in-law, Bobby and David Carter. She is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Dan Carter; son, Jody (Nicole) Simms; daughter, Kim (Al) Moore; bonus son, Jamie (Thelma) Carter; brother, Larry (Pat) Walters; sister, Melissa (Rodney) Norris; grandchildren, Justin (Krysten) Harris, Robert Harris, Hunter, Logan, Hailey, Sophia and Jake Simms, Tanner and Lexie Goodwin, Little Jamie, Celyne and Kiley Carter, Dawn (Cory) Finch, Amy (Jessie) Jones, and Tyler Goodwin; five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Nita worked for Austin’s Country Palace for over 20 years, then Walmart for 10 years. After that, her greatest job was being a stay at home Granny to all of her grandbabies. Her grandbabies were her true joy in life. She was an avid bowler. Nita, like most of the Kountz women, was a bingo playing fool at the Knights of Columbus. On July 8, 2022, Nita gave her heart to Jesus laying in her hospital bed which was the best gift she could have ever received or given us because we know where she is today. She’s home in the arms of Jesus. Juanita K. Walters Simms-Carter was truly a fighter and will be greatly missed and loved always. Special thanks to her niece, Annette Cowart, for all of her help and love. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 5-7 pm at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St., Mobile, AL 36606. Condolences may be offered at www.radneyfuneralhome-mobile.com.
