

Born in Florence, South Carolina June was the daughter of the late Johnnie Clifton Sutton and Beatrice Margaret Eagerton Sutton. She spent her early years in Florence where she received her education and built the foundation for a life marked by love, strength, and resilience.
June married Marvin L. Carraway on June 15, 1944, and raised four children: Connie, Carla, Terry and Richard until their divorce in 1953. Later through the union of her marriage to Harold Dewey Lockwood they had two children: Tisa and Donald.
She leaves behind a lasting legacy through her beloved children: Carla Carraway Bower (Raleigh) of Denver, Colorado; Terry L. Carraway (Sharon) of Mobile, Alabama; Richard Barry Carraway of Florence, South Carolina; and Tisa Lockwood Steiner (Fred) of Mobile, AL.
She was also a proud grandmother to four granddaughters and eight grandsons; and a treasured great-grandmother to twelve great-granddaughters and nine great-grandsons; and several great-great grandchildren.
June is also survived by her brother, Mike Sutton (Mary) of Florida, and two sisters, Bobby Pace of Texas and Monette Haynes of South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Lee Teeple, and her son, Harold Donald Lockwood.
June was a woman of remarkable strength and determination to her last breath. She approached life with unwavering willpower and a strong spirit, facing challenges with courage and resilience. Her steadfast nature was a testament to her deep convictions, and she never wavered in standing up for what she believed in. Those who knew her best admired her for her fierce independence and the unwavering love she showed her family. June lived with a resolute spirit and a keen sense of independence. She was never one to be swayed easily, always standing firm in her convictions and always trying to help those she loved with unwavering resolve.
June's presence in the lives of those who knew her was a source of joy, wisdom, and laughter. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her warmth, compassion, and the love she so freely gave.
