Katherine died July 10, 2015, preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Allen Kendrick Baltzer, her parents Eloise Hancock and Lucian Lee Simpson, a sister Mary Helen Kimberl, and a brother Romeo Simpson. She is survived by her children Eleanor Baltzer Yarborough (Larry), Janice Baltzer Williamson (Ed), and William Allen Baltzer (Kaye); eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and a sister Nell Simpson Jones. She leaves a remarkable legacy of service to those in need, particularly children, a devotion to God, and a deep love for the people in her life. A Commemorative Service will be held July 20, at 2:00 p.m.in the Chapel of Pine Crest Funeral Home & Cemetery in Mobile, AL. Visitation precedes the service at 1:15. Interment follows the service.
