Kevin A. Farnell – born July 30, 1960, in Mobile, Alabama, went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2010 at his home in Mobile after a short illness. Kevin graduated from Davidson High School in 1978 with Laurie, his high school sweetheart. Kevin worked as a loyal employee at Coca Cola Bottling for 34 years, but his “real job’ was being the perfect example of a person who truly loved his family, friends, and life. A day never went by that Kevin didn’t make at least one person smile or make a difference in someone’s life. Kevin touched so many lives with his gift of compassion and whole heartedly cared how people were doing when he asked them. Everyone always loved having Kevin around, because it was a guarantee there would be laughter with all of his drama filled hysterical stories. Kevin enjoyed traveling with family and friends, but truly enjoyed the simple things in life, especially spending quality time with loved ones. He shared many wonderful years of motor cross racing with Chason and other family friends. Kevin immersed himself in motor cross and won 1st place in his division. He coached Chason’s Little League baseball team and CYO basketball. Kevin’s face glowed with a parent’s love as he watched Chason fly over the bar pole vaulting. Kevin’s spirit will always be with us each time we hear laughter and see sunshine on smiling faces. A true inspiration to us all. Surviving are his wife of 28 years, Laurie A. Farnell; their son, Chason Garrett Farnell; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Farnell; sister, Sheila (Joel) Midgette; brother Alan (Gloria) Farnell; mother-in-law, Peggy Pehler; brothers-in-law, John (Sally) Pehler, Fred (Becky) Pehler of Texas; 8 nieces and nephews; 7 grand-nieces and nephews; his faithful companion (dog), Louie “little man”; Lucy (cat); and a host of other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the church from 9-11 a.m. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations made to the Chason Farnell College Fund, c/o Regions Bank, 4100 Government Blvd., Mobile, AL 36693.
