Larry Dale Hall

Larry Dale Hall, PhD -- A native of Mobile passed away Tuesday, September 14, 2010, after a difficult battle with brain cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest S. Hall and his sister, Sandra Miller. He is survived by his mother, Ellie Hall; his wife of 41 years, Sharron; his children, Leigh Ellen Nettles of Tallahassee (John Nettles), Dale H. Hall and his granddaughter, Clara Katherine Nettles. Dr. Hall was a Professor of Sociology at Spring Hill College for 31 years. He was an active member of Christ United Methodist Church and a devoted member of the Mobile Optimist Club, being named Optimist of the Year in 2009. Widely known for his active participation in the Optimist Club Christmas Tree Lot on Anne Street, his service to the community will be missed. The memorial service will be held from St. Joseph's Chapel at Spring Hill College on Friday, September 17, 2010, at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will follow the service in the Gautrelet Room. His burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wilmer Hall Children's Home, 3811 Old Shell Rd., Mobile, AL 36608.
