Laverne Jackson Lucas

Mrs. Laverne Jackson Lucas, age 85, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 8,2020. Mrs. Lucas is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Lewis Jackson and Mary Leola Roberts Jackson,loving husband of 65 years, Leonard Ray Lucas and siblings, W. C. Jackson, Inez Jackson Mosley, L. C. "Jack" Jackson, Lavell "Bill" Jackson, and J. C. Jackson. Mrs. Lucas was retired after 43 years with Sears in Human Resource Management.

She and her late husband enjoyed their many years of traveling with their friends and family, especially their life long friends, Kenneth and Mary Morrow. She was a active member of Sage Avenue Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years, then attended Dauphin Way Baptist Church. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Mrs. Lucas is survived by her son, Bartley "Bart" Ray Lucas, Sr. and daughter-in-law, Carolyn, siblings, Dorothy Jackson Turner, and Lois Jackson (Stuart) Payne. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Bartley “Ray” (Iryna) Lucas, Jr., Larry “Mat” Lucas, David “Nathan” (Allison) Lucas and great grandchildren; Kasper, Jackson and Jon Elliot Lucas and many more loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the loving care and dedication given by her caregivers, Jerri and Susie.

Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home-Mobile, 3155 Dauphin St. on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Funeral services to follow at 12:00 pm in the Oakleigh Chapel of Radney Funeral Home.
