Leroy Wiese was born February 13, 1938 in Bagley, Minnesota and was a native of Bemidji, Minnesota and a resident of Mobile, Alabama. Leroy passed from this life December 30, 2019. He served 4 years in the United States Navy as a Class 3 Boiler Tender. He worked for the Mobile City Fire Department as a Driver and was stationed at Number 20 where he retired after 30 years of service. In his off time, he drove a truck for Baldwin Transfer. Leroy was a mechanic and could fix just about anything. He had a love of travel and exploring. He was always taking his family on Sunday drives and took his family of 9 on many vacations.
Leroy is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patty Wiese, as well as his 7 children: Stan (Lisa) Wiese, Stephen (Sherry) Wiese, Maureen (Robert) Kirby, Bonnie Wiese, Melonie Wiese, Barry (Belinda) Wiese, and Pamela (George) Tillman; 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Paul (Susan) Wiese and Keith (Janet) Wiese. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Bertha Wiese; 3 sisters: Arlene Johnson, Lois Wilcowski and Pauline Wilcowski; and 5 brothers: Kenneth Wiese, Jerome Wiese, Douglas Wiese, Marvin Wiese and Martin Wiese.
A wake will be held Thursday, January 2, 2020 from 6 to 8 pm at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with interment in the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort. Leroy’s sons will honor their father by being pallbearers along with Robert Kirby, George Tillman, Matthew Wiese, Timothy Wiese and Jeremy Summerlin.
