

Mr. Livears “Bill” Chavers – born August 1, 1926 in Brewton, AL and a longtime resident of Mobile, AL, died Saturday, April 3, 2010 in a local hospital. Mr. Chavers was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre for four years and was awarded two Bronze Star Medals. He was a longtime and elected member of the Parish Board at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. He was honored as Man of the Year by the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and the Ahepan Man of the Year. Mr. Chavers received the Metropolis Archangel St. Michael Award in Atlanta, GA. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mrs. Diana Zarocostas Chavers of Mobile, AL; two daughters, Durella (David) Combs of San Francisco, CA and LaVonne Wilbur of Los Angeles, CA; cousins, Nicholas and Ethel Catranis of Mobile, AL; nieces and nephews, Dr. Theodore (Connie) Catranis, George (Anna) Catranis, Tina (Morgan) McAfoos, and Kristen (Michael) Baker; cousin, Georgia Lee Dunagan; and God children, Steven Vrettos, Nicholas Luther and Ulises B. Chavez. Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 8 P.M. on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street, with the Trisagion Service at 7 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 from the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church Trust Fund, 50 South Ann Street, Mobile, AL 36604. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
