

Lois Hue Addison was born on July 15, 1938, and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 9, 2026. She was almost 88 years old. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Ray Hue and Lillian Velkly Hue, brothers, Arthur Albert Hue and Thomas Joseph Hue, husband, Donald Cyrus Addison, son, Donald Thomas Addison, and nephew, Richard Addison.
Lois was born in Covington, KY, and was raised in South Gate, KY. She attended LaSalette Academy. She married Don, whose lifelong career in the US Coast Guard brought their family to many places, including Louisiana, Virginia, Florida, Kentucky, Texas, Washington State, Hawaii; and in 1973, they moved to Mobile, Alabama.In Mobile, for over 35 years, Lois worked with senior citizens as a site manager for the Senior Activities for Independent Living program. During this time, she made many friends, especially her dear friend, Quincy Campbell, who was part of every major family event and was also by her side during her final days.
Lois was a devout Catholic and an active member of St. Dominic Catholic Parish for over 50 years. She prayed many rosaries daily. Lois was a very caring, pleasant, positive, and funny person. When asked how she was doing, usually, she would reply, “I’m a huffin’ and a puffin.’”
Lois is survived by her children, Dawn Addison McKinney (Thomas), Cheryl Addison Bullock (John), Pamela Addison Holberg, John David Addison (Leslie), Kristen Addison Stanley (Greg), and James D. Addison; her 17 grandchildren, Gregory R. Holberg, Jr. (Laurie), Donald T. Addison, Jr. (Jocelyn), John C. Addison, Lillian H. McKinney, John J. Bullock, Jr. (Fisher), Katie H. McVeay, Alton C. McVeay, Jr., Emily M. Edmonds (Addison), Benjamin L. McVeay, Bradley T. Addison (Katie), William Addison (Kaitlin), Kevin T. Bullock (Allie), Darcey E. McKinney, John D. Addison, Jr., Molly A. Nall (Parker), Elizabeth A. Blankenship (Murray), Alexander L. Vick, Cray T. Stanley, and her 19 great grandchildren, Nori, Emma, Baker, Henry, Marie, Roane, Ellie, Billy, Bernadette, Hue, Ella Kay, Barrett, Addie, Bobby, Lucy Lee, Max, Bear, Bella, and Alora. She is also survived by her loving brother-in-law, Ronald C. Addison (Jamie), nephew, Tom Addison (Emily), and niece, Elizabeth Forslund and her children. She was affectionately known as ‘Granny.’

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at St. Dominic Catholic Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at the Church. Contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in her honor.
