Louis "Lil Man" Elbert Wells

Louis Elbert “Lil Man” Wells, a native and resident of Grand Bay, Alabama, was born October 21, 1945. He departed this life August 11, 2019 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Deacon Cleveland, Jr. and Augustine Wells; twin sons, Louis Elbert, Jr. and Louise Elmore Wells; three brothers, Alfred, Lavern, and Milton Wells; and one sister, Lubertha Coleman.

Louis was a 1963 graduate of St. Elmo High School in St. Elmo, Alabama. He later joined the United States Marine Corps in 1965, serving in Vietnam. He attended S.D. Bishop State Jr. College and was employed by International Paper Company, Moss Point for 31 years. Louis believed in being on time and not missing work.

Louis was a lifetime member of The Holy Church of God, Inc., serving as a Sunday school teacher, a dedicated usher, and choir member, until his health failed. He loved working around the church, inside and outside, cutting and trimming the lawn. Louis was a dedicated and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He leaves to cherish his memories a faithful and devoted wife, Mrs. Grace Wells, Grand Bay, AL: two children, Latrice McElroy, Milwaukee, WI and LaJuan Wells, Grand Bay, AL; four grandchildren, Logan(Esther), Shelby and twins, Maxwell and Braxton, Milwaukee, WI; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Jr., Lorenzo, Joey, Jayden, Landon and Dakota, all of Milwaukee; two brothers Clennon (Dorothy) devoted and Herman Wells, Grand Bay, AL; two sisters, Doris Boston, Stone Mountain, GA, and Mildred Slayton, Griffin, GA; three devoted sisters-in-law, Mother Aurelia (Bishop Walter) Betts, Mobile, AL, Mother Claudia (Melvin) Beckham; Eight Mile, AL, and Mother Mary Wells, Grand Bay, AL; and sisters-in-law, Selena Logan Stallworth, Grand Bay, AL and Faye Logan, Montgomery, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, as well as his church family.

A visitation for Louis will occur Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Holy Church of God Cottage Hill, 2115 Demetropolis Rd, Mobile, Alabama 36693. A celebration of life will occur Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, Theodore, Alabama.

Serving as pallbearers are Raymond Roscoe, Donelle Beckham, Kent Betts, Dwaynes Betts, Eric Logan, and Deacon Lonnie Ash.
