Louise Edna Davis

Louise Edna Williams Davis age 88 passed away on December 24, 2019. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 1952 and taught first grade in Tuscaloosa County, Danville, Virginia, Bessemer, Pine Hill, Cullman, and Tuscaloosa City, Alabama. After taking time out for family and having a legally blind daughter, she returned to college at Peabody in Nashville to train as a teacher of the visually impaired. Upon completion, she took a position in Mobile to begin a program for the visually impaired. Having elementary students in the morning, she travelled afternoons to all the schools in the county taking resources for visually impaired students and conducted surveys to discover those needing help. As the program grew, a second teacher was hired for the elementary class and Louise began a resource class for middle school students. When a third teacher was hired, she moved on to serve as itinerant resource for all the visually impaired throughout the county full time. Mrs. Louise was preceded in death by her parents: George Killough and Lula Alleen Whitehead Williams, paternal grandparents: George Lee and Josephine Victoria Smith Williams, maternal grandparents: John Sellers and Lula Eugenia McMillan Whitehead, her beloved husband: George Howard Davis, three siblings: Sara Josephine Williams Jobe and husband Fred, George Killough Williams, Jr., Lula Victoria Williams, and her son: Michael Howard Davis. Left to cherish Louise’s beautiful memories will be her two remaining children: Connie Alleen Davis Thielen and husband Joe, Aleta Louise Davis, daughter in law: Arlene Davis, three grandchildren: William (Beau) Michael Davis, Bonnie Arlene Davis, Jonathan (Jonny) Robert Davis and wife Shallon, two step-grandchildren: Patricia Ann Thielen, Cynthia Marie Thielen, sister in law; June Williams along with many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends. Honoring Louise as pallbearers will be Beau Davis, Jonathan Davis, Russell Williams, David Jobe, Mark Williams and Mitchell Shumock. Celebration of Life services for Louise Williams Davis will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, December 30, 2019 at Tanner Williams United Methodist Church, 1550 N. Grand Bay Wilmer Road, Mobile, Alabama 36608, with Reverend Jennifer Gregory officiating under the direction of Pine Crest Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Pine Crest Cemetery West, 1599 Snow Road South, Mobile, Alabama 36695. The family will be receiving guests for visitation Monday, December 30, 2019 from 1:00 PM until time of service at 2:00 PM at Tanner Williams United Methodist Church.
