Mrs. Lucille Rencher Murray
November 18, 1920 – January 10, 2021
Mrs. Lucille Rencher Murray born November 18, 1920, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 10, 2021, at the age of 100 at her long-time home on Dog River, which she loved. "Tita" or "Babe Boo" by her friends and family was a lifelong resident of Mobile who loved life, her family and working in her yard.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John Tobin Murray, Jr.; her son, Edwin Rencher Murray (Pete); her parents, Edwin and Lucille Rencher; her brother, Edwin R. Rencher, and her sister, Elizabeth R. Van Antwerp. She is survived by three children: John Tobin Murray, III (Vickie); Lucy Rencher Murray; and Elilzabeth Murray Blankenship (Trey) and her brother, Dr. James Lamar Rencher (Lee).
Babe Boo was blessed with eight grandchildren; Elizabeth M Howard (Kirby); Mildred (Millie) M. Seifert (Ross); Ellen M. Hicks (Brannon); John T. Murray, IV; Katherine M. Norton (Charlie); Thomas E. (Pete) Blankenship, IV; Murray G. Blankenship; and John (Jack) G. Blankenship, as well as eight wonderful great-grandchildren.
Tita was very devoted to her church and her church family at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church. She served on many ministries through the years including the Altar Guild, the Society of St. Stephens and Meals on Wheels. She was a proud member of the Bad Girls of the Bible study group and was honored as an Honorary Steward of the Church. She loved following UMS-Wright sports, which all her children, grandchildren and now great-grandchildren participated in, and she proudly cheered them on. She also loved watching the University of Alabama take the field on Saturdays.
The family wishes to thank her longtime two "best friends" Lula Hillary and Joseph Greeley, Comfort Care Hospice and all of her caregivers including Ammie Thompson, Bernadette Williams, Tunisia Oakley and Erica White.
A private family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations made to Dauphin Way United Methodist Church Meals on Wheels, 1507 Dauphin Street, Mobile, AL 36604, or UMS-Wright Preparatory School, 65 Mobile Street, Mobile, AL 36607.
