

On Saturday, July 10, 2021, Lynda June Robbirds Frederick Daughenbaugh passed away at the age of 70. Lynda was born on September 25, 1950 in Starke, Florida to John and Mamie (Pittman) Robbirds. She earned degrees in Elementary Education at the University of Central Florida, Early Childhood at Lincoln Memorial University, and Reading Education at the University of Tennessee. Her doctoral research earned her the University’s Graduate School Award for the Best Dissertation in 1992. She loved teaching and was an educator for 38 years.
On April 26, 2003, she married Richard Daughenbaugh. They had a blended family; she had one daughter, Kristin Frederick, and he had 3 sons, Shawn, David and Mark Daughenbaugh.
Since she was a little girl, Lynda had a passion for teaching and reading. Other interests were cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, swimming, going to the beach, traveling, quiz show Jeopardy, and watching her grandchildren grow up. Her favorite color was yellow. She loved pansies, and collected pansy items, peacocks, and perfume bottles. She loved to read and tell them stories. She was a very religious, loving and caring woman and only wanted the best for everyone, especially children. She loved animals. She adopted cats and dogs throughout her life.
Lynda was admired and highly respected by her many students where ever she taught. She was known by many as one of the most intelligent people they had ever met.
She was preceded in death by her father John, and her mother Mamie. She is survived by her husband Richard Daughenbaugh, her daughter Kristin Frederick, three step sons, Shawn, David and Mark Daughenbaugh, 2 brothers, James and Jerry Sr., nephews, Jerry Jr., Timothy and Michael Robbirds, 2 nieces Ruthan (Robbirds) Tattersall and Melissa Robbirds, cousin Barbara Bentley, and 7 grandchildren. Emily and Joshua Daughenbaugh, triplets James, Cecilia and David Daughenbaugh, Helena Cherry, and Alaire Henry.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer at 11:00 am. Flowers or donations may be sent to 7125 Hill Rd, Mobile, Al 36695.
