Mamie D. Fountain

Mamie D. Fountain – 92, born in Birmingham, AL, and lifelong resident of Mobile, AL, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013. She was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church. She was also an avid outdoors sportsman, gardener, fabulous cook, and a huge football fan. Mrs. Fountain was preceded in death by her husband, James E. “Al” Fountain, Sr.; son, Joseph Fountain; and grandson, Matthew A. Fountain. She is survived by four children, Julia F. (Mike) Bignoli, Jeanette F. (Dan) Root, James E. Fountain, Jr., and Sheila F. (Jimmy) Jones; five grandchildren, Heather Hayes, Danny W. (Shannon) Root, Jennifer D. (Raymond) Jones, Jesse A. (Jessica) Jones, and Joseph A. Jones; four great-grandchildren; brother, Jim Dodson; sister, Dorothy Barnes; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to offer a heartfelt thanks to Donna & Dee Dee’s Nursing Service and Alabama Hospice. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Monday, November 4, 2013, at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour.
