
Marcell .C. Corlett Sr. (affectionally known as PawPaw or Pops) passed this earth to gain his wings to join his sweet wife Mary who left us one week prior. PawPaw was born Oct 8, 1921 in Bellflower Illinois to Charles and Josefa Corlett. He graduated from Murphy High School in 1939. His first job was for Western Union where he rode a bicycle all over the county to deliver telegrams. He also worked for Jones Seafood as a teen. He was in coast guard and eventually Navy. He started with Brookley AFB after the service and was a contract specialist traveling with his family over several states in the US to oversee installation of missle sites. He retired in Huntsville, Al in 1974 and returned back to Mobile where for the next 25 years owned and operated The Door Place on Dauphin Island Pkwy where he was nown as The Door Man. . He had a remarkable green thumb who worked in his garden and with his flowers every day. He cared many years for his Mary while she was ill during alot of their marriage. He was a wonderful husband, father, grand and greatgrandfather as well as uncle. He loved life. He loved to laugh and had a dry sense of humor. He loved his cat Nosey. He was preceded in death by his Mary who he declared the first day he met her he would marry and lived as soulmates with for 65 yrd. His youngest son Ronald Wayne Corlett, grandson David Garrett sr, and 3 weeks ago his great grandson David Garrett Jr. He is survived by his daughter Shirley Corlett-Garrett(David Wainwright) of Mobile and son Marcel Corlett Jr (Nancy).of Huntsville, Al. He had 3 grandchildren, Marcell D. Garrett Mobile, Mich Corlett Huntsville, Al and Jennifer Rust(Mark) of Pearland Tx. He had 4 greats, Gavin Corlett Huntsville, Al, Chase Garrett Cleveland Tx, and Kyleigh and Clayton Sewell Conroe Tx. He had a host of nieces, nephews and friends. His dear friend of Many years David(N0vella) Bass who gardened with him and was a wonderful friend. We wish to thank Springhill Home Health for all the years of devotion, Annette who took such good care of assuring his shower , Julie, Talina great nurses for him over the years, and to Mobile Infirmary 2nd floor, especially to Montse and Kayla who were with him until the end and Dr Kleinschrodt and Sylvia for such care for many many mnay years. There will be a graveside service at Magnolia Cemetary Virginia and Ann St in Mobile, Al on Tuesday at 10am. In lieu of flowers cards may be sent to his family at 4213 Dauphin Island Pkwy Mobile, Al 36605. He and Beebaw are now together forever and will be missed beyond words and in our heats forever
