She was born March 14, 1931, in Zeigler, Illinois to Markos Mallis and Opal Verbal Mallis.
Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Council Blan, her brother, Jason Markos, her great-granddaughter Devon Emily Estelle and her son-in-law, Charles A. Graham.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Blan Graham of Orange Beach and her son, Jimmie Council Blan, Jr. (Pam) of Daphne and her grandchildren, Terran Ashley Cavanaugh of Leakesville, MS, Jeffery Todd Graham of Orange Beach and Chase Dalton Blan of Satsuma along with her great-grandchildren.
Maria Graduated from Murphy High School and was first employed with the Malbis Bakery. Later she became employed with International Paper, where she worked for over 40 years in the Research Department putting her artistic talents into graphic design.
After her retirement, she continued her passion for art in painting and graphic design for the benefit of family and friends. Maria was an avid bridge player, she never met a stranger, loved animals, and especially her family. Maria was known as Granny by many as she traveled the south never missing her grandson's baseball game of golf tournament.
Private burial services will be held at Pine Crest Cemetery.
