Marilyn Louise Stewart

September 6, 1932 – December 20, 2013

Marylyn Louise Faulk Stewart, a native of Mobile, Alabama, departed this life on Friday, December 20, 2013 at a local hospital surrounded by her beloved husband and family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Meade Brackin Faulk, her father Marion Bernard Faulk Sr., a brother, Marion Bernard Faulk Jr., and one grandson, Winston Brackin Stewart, Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Dr. Walker Byron Stewart, Sr., four children, Sydney Stewart Whiting (Bill), Walker Byron Stewart Jr. (Brigitte), Winston Brackin Stewart, and Leslie Stewart Gafford (John), ten grandchildren, Walker Byron Stewart, III, William Stewart Whiting, Danielle Eve Stewart, Ashley Windham Stewart, Joseph McCain Whiting, Margaret Meade Whiting, Marylyn Louise Gafford, Michael Winston Gafford, Matthew Douglas Gafford, and John Bradley Stevens (Anne), one great grandchild, Elizabeth Grace Stevens, as well as a special nephew and niece, Glen Allen Faulk and Amy Linton Faulk, and her faithful friend, Margaret Cephas.

Marylyn was fortunate to have the greatest love of all and spend her life with her dear husband, Walker Byron Stewart, Sr., with whom she shared many great adventures and experiences. She was a blessing to so many in her life, shared her talents and love of life with anyone who needed her, and honestly never met a stranger. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed in this life, but her strength, spirit, and beauty will live on in her children and grandchildren forever. She truly was a beautiful, joyful soul, perhaps best embodied by one of her favorite words, “Hallelujah”.

Visitation will take place Monday, December 23, 2013 at 12:30 in McGowin Hall at Dauphin Way United Methodist Church. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 in the Sanctuary at Dauphin Way. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Animal Rescue Foundation to honor her lifelong love of and devotion to animals or to Victory Health Care of Mobile.
