
Mrs. Marilyn Jean Stikes Vollmer - a native of Hattiesburg, MS and a longtime resident of Mobile and Baldwin Counties, died Friday, November 23, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Vollmer was a member of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church. She graduated from Murphy High School and was a member of the Friends of Magnolia Cemetery. An avid golfer, she served as president of the Ladies Golf Association at Skyline Country Club and enjoyed sewing. She loved taking care of her family and friends. Mrs. Vollmer was preceded in death by her husband, The Honorable Richard W. Vollmer, Jr.; her parents, Henry A. Stikes, Sr. and Frances Edgar Stikes; one sister, Elizabeth Stikes Hamilton; two brothers, John E. Stikes and James Stikes; and two sisters-in-law, Beatrice Pate Hall and Mary Hatcher Stikes. She is survived by five children, Marilyn Ann Vollmer Burke (Dan) of Belmont, CA, Richard W. Vollmer, III (Malinda) of Mobile, AL, Steven Henry Vollmer of Denver, CO, Mary Elizabeth Vollmer Kendrick (Matthew) of Daphne, AL, and James Burke Vollmer (Sylvia) of Spanish Fort, AL; one brother, Henry A. Stikes, Jr. (Florence) of Raleigh, NC; her grandchildren, Emily Megan Burke, Robyn Frances Burke, Alison Jane Burke, Marie Ellen Vollmer, Richard Houston Vollmer, Wade Steven Vollmer, Oliver Harris Delchamps, IV, Marilyn Frances Delchamps, Giacynta Antoinette Vollmer, Maria Elena Vollmer, James Burke Vollmer, Jr., Marley Elizabeth Kendrick, Anna Grace Kendrick, and Matthew Carter Kendrick; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home, Dauphin Street. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 1 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society , the American Heart Association , the Little Sisters of the Poor, or your favorite charity
