Bumper passed away peacefully in his home with his beloved wife of 54 years by his side. Through the years he was a member of many mystic and civic organizations as well as being an avid outdoorsman. He worked for many years in downtown Mobile in the Insurance industry before finding his true life's work in the courthouse, working as a bailiff for former Judge Judson Wells and then retiring as bailiff for Judge Bob Sherling. He is preceded in death by his parents Marion H. Lyons and Martha Rogers Lyons. He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Bixler Lyons and his two sons and daughter's in law, Marion H. Lyons III (Marie) and George Rogers Lyons (Becky). He has 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Everyone knew Bumper and Bumper knew everyone. He was a true downtown icon and will be missed by many, especially his loving family. A graveside service is planned for Tuesday, February 21 at 11:00 am at Magnolia cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Wilmer Hall. "He lived intensely, He aged gracefully, He died peacefully".
