

It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of our beloved Marissa, who departed this world on July 9, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on May 25, 1966, Marissa left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's, surrounded by family and friends who cherished her deeply.
Marissa was predeceased by her devoted parents, Jaime Ernesto Condom and Mirtha Esther Sanchez, and stepfather, Edward T. Merry Jr. She leaves behind her guardian and best friend, Catherine C. Merchant, her sisters, Valerie Condom Watkins and Kathryn Leigh Condom Jack, as well as her dear aunt, Gloria Walker, who will continue to carry her spirit in their hearts.
A proud graduate of John S. Shaw High School, class of 1985, Marissa's life was a testament to resilience and joy. Despite living with Down syndrome, she embraced life with an incredible zest and became a beacon of love and warmth within her community.
Marissa actively participated in various community groups, such as the Cleveland House and Country Music Hall, and was a cherished member of Turnerville Baptist Church. Her contributions to these organizations were marked by her enthusiasm and dedication, leaving a lasting impact that will be remembered fondly.
Known for her fabulous style, Marissa had a unique flair for fashion that was truly her own. Her love for Alabama Football (Roll Tide), music, dancing, bowling, and parties filled her days with laughter and joy. Her infectious smile could light up any room, and her empathetic nature made everyone feel welcome and valued.
A celebration of Marie's life will be held on July 16, 2026, at 10 O'clock at Pine Crest Funeral Home & Cemetery, located at 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway. Family and friends are invited to join us in honoring a life beautifully lived.
Marissa’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Home RN and Southern Care Hospice. A very special thanks to Catherine Merchant, Melanie Griffin and the caregivers; Alana, Alyssa, Ciara, Elizabeth, Jiavona, Mackenzie, Melisa, and Queenie for their unwavering love and compassionate care. Marissa held each of you dearly in her heart.
