Martin David Long Sr.

Celebration of Life services for Mr. Martin David Long Sr., 83, will take place Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 12:00 PM in the Pine Crest Funeral Home Chapel, 1939 Dauphin Island Parkway, Mobile, Alabama, 36605, with Brother Fred Wolf of Luke 4:18 Baptist Church, 2664 Sollie Road, Mobile, Alabama, 36695, officiating. Interment will immediately follow on the grounds of Pine Crest Cemetery.
The family will be accepting guests to honor Mr. Martin Long Sr. Saturday, September 8, 2018, beginning at 10:00 AM until time of service at 12:00 PM at Pine Crest Funeral Home.
Mr. Martin David Long Sr. was born in Mobile, Alabama, March 1, 1935, to the late William Joseph and Martha Ellen Kinsey Long. He was called to his Heavenly home following a brave and courageous battle with cancer in Mobile, Alabama, September 6, 2019. Mr. Martin attended Mobile Public Schools until high school; he attended and graduated from University Military School in 1953. During his younger years he enjoyed playing sports for UMS. Mr. Martin attended Springhill College before he was drafted into the United States Army where he served this grateful nation for two years. In 1959 Martin married the love of his life, Mrs. Frances Maples. From 1963 until retirement in 1988, Martin provided for his family with years of dedicated service as a firefighter with various Fire Stations carrying the titles of Private or Captain. He attended Luke 4:18 Baptist Church, 2664 Sollie Road, Mobile, Alabama.
Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents and seven of his eight siblings.
Left to cherish the precious memories left behind by Martin are his wife; Frances Maples Long, one daughter; Jeanne Long Ingram and husband Michael and one son; Martin David Long Jr. and wife D.D., one sister; Louise Long Kingcade and husband James, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, extended family members and many wonderful friends.
Honoring Mr. Martin as pallbearers will be Martin David Long Jr., Johnathan Bond, Brandon Bond, Arianto Butarbutar, Tim Otenberger and Martin David Long III.
The family would like to express their warmest gratitude to Dr. Martin Lester and his entire staff for the love and care shown to the family during their greatest time of need.
