Mary Elizabeth Duff Duff Boyes

Mary Elizabeth Duff Boyes, born May 6, 2012, passed away Sunday, Sept 16, 2012, succumbing to a two-year struggle with dementia. Mary Elizabeth was an active member of St Dominic Catholic Church. Mary Elizabeth had a passion for trolling Mobile Bay at low tide seeking soft shell crabs. She enjoyed and cherished the beauty and solitude of the bay on a starlit night either in the company of her grandchildren or her sisters. Mary Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, John Louis Duff and Bessie Cunningham Strachan; her husband, Earl Thomas Boyes; son, George Anthony Boyes; siblings John (Jack) J Duff, F. Louis Duff, and Fidelis Duff Haskins. She was survived by children Joan Marie Thompson Prockup, Thomas G. (Jerry) Boyes, David E. (Mari) Boyes, Mary Anne Smith (Michael B.), and Lesla M. Nelson; sisters Lois Gibson, Patricia Dumas, and Rose Murphy; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends at St Dominic's Catholic Church at 9am Wednesday, September 19, 2012 with a Funeral Mass celebrated at 10am. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Covenant Hospice, a non-profit organization serving our nation's elderly; or to one's favorite charity in Mary Elizabeth's honor.
