Mary Ellen Jones Brannan

On Saturday June 4, 2022, Mary Ellen Jones Brannan, a loving mother of three children passed away at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Coyt Brannan; her parents, Grace and William Jones and her brother, William Jones.

She is survived by her children, Samuel David (Rhonda) Brannan, Verna Lynn (Wayne) Durham and Richard Glenn (Barbara) Brannan. She leaves behind a host of loving grandchildren, Bradley Heather (Robby) Rowell, Brook Hamilton (Zach) Temple, Cindy Marie (Jeff) Smith, Brannan Michael (Mary Brianna) Durham, Jennifer Ellen (Travis) Sessions, Casey Lynn Durham, Kristen LeAnn Brannan, William Samuel Brannan, and Jillian Eudora Brannan. She was also blessed with seven great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

Mary Ellen was born on September 6, 1926 in Mobile Alabama. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1944, then went on to attend MSCW for two years where she studied music. She was a housewife and mother, later she worked as a bookkeeper. After she retired, she enjoyed volunteering at Central Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting as well as going to the symphony.

There will be a Funeral Service held at 3:00 pm Monday, June 6, 2022 at Radney’s Funeral Home on Dauphin St. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Interment in Pine Crest will be held privately. In lieu of flowers she would prefer donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
