Mary Boyd Smyly Smyley Hines

Mary Boyd Smyly Hines, a native of Selma, Alabama and a longtime resident of Mobile, died on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Thomas Miles Newbern and brother in law, Charles H. McKinney. Mrs. Hines was a member of First Baptist Church of Mobile. She is survived by her husband, James Thomas Hines, Jr.; three children, Carolyn Hines Mikell and her husband Chip, Margaret Hines Newbern and her husband Tom, and James Thomas Hines, III and his wife Adreanna; a sister and brother, Estelle Smyly McKinney and Douglas Smyly, and his wife, Janet; two grandchildren, Benjamin Hines Newbern and Mikhaila Marion Hines; nieces and nephews, Steven Smyly, Beverly Smyly, and Doug McKinney, and her long-time friend and housekeeper, Barthalia Tarver. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, from 4 until 6 PM at Radney Funeral Home with graveside services to be held on Thursday, December 13, at 2 PM in the Pineville Cemetery in Monroeville, Alabama. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the T. Miles Newbern Archaeological Support Fund (Fund Number ES79), College of Charleston Foundation, 66 George St., Charleston, SC 29424-0001, att. David Masich, or to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Tidewater Chapter, 5712 Cleveland St., Suite 100, Virginia Beach, VA, 23462, att. Cathy Chisholm
