

Mary Jeanne Collum Hopkins was born in Mobile, Alabama to Daisy and Clarence Collum on October 15th 1930. Jeanne attended school in Mobile, Alabama. After graduation, Jeanne moved to Washington, DC where she worked for the FBI, and where she met, dated, and wed Carl D. Hopkins on January 26th 1957 in Alexandria, Virginia. The couple had two children, a daughter, Michele Lynn Hopkins and a son, Mark Webb Hopkins.
Following the death of Jeanne’s beloved husband, Carl in 1969, she and her children returned to Mobile, Alabama where she worked as the Personal Manager for K-Mart for thirty years. After Retirement, Jeanne kept up an active social life through volunteer service to local museums, theaters, and a number of charitable organizations in Mobile, Alabama and surrounding area. It is of considerable note that in the last few years of Jeanne’s life she volunteered as a research subject with CB Flock Research Corporation in the development of a new blood thinner treatment for Atrial Fibrillation to replace the more costly Eliquis.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents Daisy and Clarence Collum, her beloved husband, Carl D. Hopkins, her loyal son Mark W. Hopkins, brothers and sisters, and other family and many many friends.
She is survived by her daughter Michele Lynn Hopkins Morgan, son-in-law Timothy E. Morgan, Sr., Kay Hopkins widow of Mark W. Hopkins, sister Dawn Collum, grand-daughters Rachel L. Hopkins of Fairhope, Alabama and Kayley Hopkins Woodham of Rome, Georgia and great-granddaughters, Sally Morgan and Kelly Morgan of Saraland, Alabama, and all of the nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
The family wishes to thank all medical professionals and workers who cared for Jeanne, and especially the loving staff of SAADS Hospice located at Providence USA Hospital, Mobile, Alabama.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, June 22nd 2026, at Radney Funeral Home, 3155 Dauphin St, Mobile, Alabama followed by the funeral services at 11:00 am. The committal service will be held at Mobile Memorial Gardens Cemetery located at 6100 Three Notch Rd, Mobile, Alabama 36619.
