

Mary Jane graduated from Murphy High School and continued her education at Alabama College for Women (University of Montevallo). Her professional life reflected her deep commitment to service, community and helping those in need. She worked with America's Junior Miss, now known as Distinguished Young Women. She also worked in the Drug Treatment Unit of The Salvation Army and at Dillard’s.
Throughout her life, Mary Jane remained active and engaged. She enjoyed playing tennis and bridge, activities that brought her joy and connection with others. Her friendly and outgoing nature made her a cherished presence among friends and family alike.
Faith played a central role in Mary Jane’s life. She grew up attending Dauphin Way Baptist Church, raised her children as an active member of Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, and later attended Trinity Episcopal Church.
She is survived by her children: David Barrow (Susie), Lee Barrow, and Jack Barrow (Cindy); grandchildren: Morgan McGuffey (Ford), Emee Hendrickson (Brother), Brett Barrow, niece Kim Carter, and nephew Tommy Barrow. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bill Barrow, and her parents Horace and Ena Mae Byrd.
The family would like to thank both Murray House and Allen Memorial Health for their love and devoted care to Mary Jane in her final years.
A private graveside service will be held for the family on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to your local Humane Society in her honor.
