Mary Florine Brannan Miller

Mary Florine Brannan Miller, 98, was born Monday, August 29, 1927 in Mobile, Alabama and passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at her home in Ferriday, Louisiana. Floren had many names: Mother, Mom, Mama, Maw-Maw, and Granny. She stood at the center of many generations. Florine participated in life. She was fiercely independent for as long as she was able, and her regular activities included maintaining a sizeable vegetable garden and bowling well into her 90's. Each year, people would come from far and wide to visit her, something she deeply cherished. Florine was tough. She was smart. She was spunky. Her legacy will endure for centuries to come.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Miller; sons, Robert Miller and Donald Miller; granddaughter, Christ Covacevich; great-granddaughter, Madelline Smith; brothers, Gerald Brannan and Darrell Brannan; and sisters, Elsie Stewart, Maxine Williams, and Bonnie Schoener.

Those left to cherish her memory aer her daughters, Cathy Ellett (Tommy) and Janice Montgomery (Chris); sister-in-law, Mary Kay Brannan (wife of Gerald Brannan); daughter-in-law, Brenda Miller ( wife of Robert Miller); grand-children, Trisha Martin (Todd), Tammy Smith (Bruce), Tara Crocker, Lance Miller (Sheena), Sam Ellett (Jessica), Laura Ellett, and Alex Gray (Mara); great-grandchildren, Tyler and Tayler Martin, Justin Miller, Nolan, Ethan and Macye Crocker, Devon Landon, Daphne, and Lydia Miller, Anthony Covacevich, Cameron, Benjamin, Maverick and Emmy Kate Ellett, and Matthew and Piper Bond; five great, great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin Street on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 12 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour. Interment will be in Union Baptist Church cemetery in Grand Bay, Alabama. Honoring her as pallbearers will be John Williams, Jerry Williams, Jeffrey Williams, Sam Ellett, Alex Gray, and Lance Miller.
